My goal is to inspire you to exercise, eat better and enjoy life more by making healthier lifestyle choices so you can live with vitality! Let me tell you why.
Back in 2000, I started and then ran my own successful pet grooming business for the next 20 years. At that point, long-term health wasn’t even on my radar. I just wanted to do what I loved for work.
And I did love being my own boss, working with animals, and the creativity of grooming. But I learned early on that if I didn’t take care of my body it would never hold up to the repetitive and physical work that grooming involved.
So I started exercising. And over the years I kept expanding on that exercise to help me feel better and keep my weight under control.
Family health history
I lost both of my grandmothers to cancer and my father to Type 2 Diabetes. But it was when my mother died of a second bout of cancer in 2010 that I got really serious about my long-term health. That’s when I really started educating myself about healthier eating habits to lower my risk for diseases.
So in addition to exercising, I adopted a mostly whole-foods plant-based diet. From all of my research, this seemed to be the best way to give my body the most nutrients I could for that long-term health and disease prevention I wanted.
Now my goal is to maintain my health, not just my weight, so I can enjoy the best quality of life possible while I have it. I’ve learned that it’s not just one thing that makes us healthy. It’s all of our lifestyle habits put together that count.
Taking control of your health
The many diseases that most of us face today are NOT inevitable consequences of aging. They’re mainly caused by the unhealthy lifestyles we live. Through my research, I’ve learned that we have more control than we think over our long-term health and quality of life.
Fitness is important, but without getting our diets, sleep, and stress under control it’s a constant uphill battle to keep up with the exercise. Health is a holistic concern and learning to be healthy all over is what makes it a lifestyle, not just a temporary phase.
With both my fitness and health coaching, I’ll teach you what I’ve learned so you can have good long-term health too and start enjoying life more! It’s not a mystery, it’s a process. And I can help you with the steps to take along the way.
My education
In addition to having a BA in Psychology, I went back to school to get my AAS degree in Exercise Science and Wellness. I am also happily certified through ACE in personal training, health coaching and senior fitness.
I don’t like to see other people suffering needlessly because they don’t know where to turn for answers. So I want to use my education and experience to teach others what I’ve learned. Hopefully, I can help you live your best life and have long-term health too!
